Let's try this again, shall we?
A few months ago I decided to start blogging again. I knew I didn't want to use something like Wordpress, as it's huge, and I write plain text files. So, I checked out the popular static-site generators and settled on Jekyll hosted on Github Pages. Ought-notta-dun-dat mmmmmhhhmmmm. I'm not a Ruby kinda guy. Never had a use for it. Never really used it. Everything that can be done in Ruby, can be done in half the time using Python. This probably isn't inherently true for Ruby, but it is inherently true for me. Managing ruby versions, sllooooooooooooooooooooow Gem installation, and some weird bug in rake that wouldn't let me call it without bundle first led me to massive amounts of frustration. Then Github changed the way they serve their pages. Need 'A records', blah, blah, blah. Finally I said "fuck this". This new blog is hosted on my server, and is generated by Pelican, which is written in Python. Easy-peasy, lemon-squeezy.Go Top
